To engage in systematic study of racialized groups using comparative, transnational, and inter-sectional approaches with a particular focus on marginalized and underprivileged communities within New Mexico and across the United States.   

To support and nurture diversity and inclusion through rigorous culturally relevant and empowering academic preparation, learning experiences which prepare and create opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and discover meaningful lifework, and to become socially responsible contributors to society.

• To critically explore the development of our identity.
• To identify and apply critical frameworks (i.e. Ethnic Studies, intersectionality, resiliency theory, structural analysis, women of color feminism, and cultural analysis) to deconstruct social inequalities/inequities.
