I have been with the ENLACE program for twelve years. I worked as the parent coordinator for eight years and as director for the last four years. ENLACE supports over four hundred students through elementary, middle, high school, and post secondary. Our goal is to provide support for all students and their families that participate in the ENLACE program.

Hello! I am currently in my second year of being a work study with ENLACE, I’ve been apart of ENLACE since high school and in total have been apart of the ENLACE family for 5 years! I am currently a sophomore at DACC and plan to transfer to NMSU to pursue a Bachelor’s in communication disorders and Master’s in speech language pathology. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family and meeting new people!

First year teaching ENLACE with seventh and eight grade students. I was a educational assistant at Mayfield High School, and had the pleasure of being part of David Morales (El Kimo) class. And if that wasn't enough for fate to push me down the path. I was getting my degree at NMSU and was a student in Mr. Ramon Padilla's class. Hola mi gente! I am from Roswell, NM. This is my first year participating and teaching the ENLACE curriculum. I currently teach 9th-12th grade. I have been teaching for 25 years. I have been teaching at LMCHS for the last 11 years of my career. I currently teach Spanish I & II and SLC-Student Learning Community with an emphasis in SEL- Social Emotional Learning. I graduated from New Mexico Highlands University and went on and completed a Masters program here at NMSU. I love to cook, dance, and anything outdoors, especially fishing. I am a proud mother of a son and a daughter. My biggest passion in teaching is unlocking the doors of the mind, the heart, and future opportunities.
Denisse ValdezMesa Middle School
Born and raised in the Mesilla Valley of Las Cruces. Been teaching for 20 years with LCPS. Currently teach 7th and 8th grade Bilingual Social Studies and 8th grade ENLACE (SLA). I enjoy traveling, latin dancing, going to the movies, and enjoy a good cup of coffee along friends and family. Always enjoy learning something new.

I enjoy music, technology, reading, and spending time with my family. I have had the honor of teaching ENLACE at the elementary level for 4 years.

"My name is Nicole Scott and I teach at Picacho MS. This is my 23rd year of teaching. Prior to coming to Picacho, I taught twelve years of elementary school in both Las Cruces and Albuquerque. I have taught 6th grade social studies for the last ten years. I started teaching 7th grade ENLACE six years ago, and have truly enjoyed having the freedom to teach in a very different format than my content area.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also love to travel, workout, do yoga, play golf, read, and enjoy watching as many sports as possible. "

I was raised in the small town of Hatch, New Mexico, where I graduated from high school. I went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from New Mexico State University. While I initially pursued that career path, I soon realized my true calling was in education. When the opportunity to become a math teacher presented itself, I embraced it, and it has proven to be one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I am beginning my fifth year of teaching 6th grade Mathematics and my second year as an ENLACE teacher. I am eager to bring both academic support and cultural enrichment to my students through this program.
Outside of the classroom, I dedicate my time to my family. My husband and I are proud parents of four daughters who keep us busy and motivated. In my free time, I enjoy baking, a hobby I recently rediscovered and continue to nurture.
I am honored to be part of the ENLACE family and look forward to a successful and inspiring school year.

With 18 years of teaching experience, I have dedicated my career to supporting and empowering students. For the past 7 years, I have had the privilege of serving as an ENLACE teacher, guiding bilingual and bicultural students through their academic and personal growth. Over the last two years, I’ve been teaching Level II ENLACE students at Mayfield High School—an incredibly rewarding chapter that has been the highlight of my career. Helping students connect with their culture while building academic confidence continues to inspire my passion for education.

I am entering my Twenty-first year as an educator and my twentieth with ENLACE. For the 2025-26 school year, I will take on a hybrid role, dividing my time between classroom teaching, program development, and teacher coaching. I serve as the ENLACE teacher at Mayfield High School working to boost graduation and college opportunities. I was the 2016 New Mexico Teacher of the Year and received the 2017 NEA-New Mexico Award for Teaching Excellence. I also received the 2022 New Mexico School Boards Association Excellence in Student Achievement Award and the 2024 Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching Award. I am married with three children. I am a football (soccer) fan of Chelsea Futbol Club and Real Madrid, HALA MADRID!
