The ENLACE High School and Middle School programs are designed to enhance students’ academic success, graduation, and transition to higher education. The programs aim to increase students’ access to peer and professional mentorships, expert teachers and professionals, and a network of community support from the university and community partners. Students in the ENLACE courses learning experiences that aim to develop their understandings of culture, identity, diversity and difference. Through project based learning students develop academic, research, critical thinking and community leadership skills that increases their chances for educational success (Excelencia in Education, January 2009).
