Introduction Activity

Step 1:
Answer the following and discuss in small and big group...
  1. Describe the community where you live. (Day 1)
  2. Describe your ideal imaginary community. How does your reality and experience measure up to this ideal? (Day 2)
  3. Do you feel that you belong? Does you feel safe in your community? Explain... (Day 3)
  4. Do you feel like you belong, valued, appreciated, respected, by your community? (Day 4)
  5. Describe at least 5 positive characteristics about your community. (Day 5)
  6. Describe at least 5 aspects about your community you would like to change and why. (Day 6)
  7. Are there any groups living within your community that are isolated, marginalized, lack safety, basic needs, services; experience prejudice, harassment, violence, etc...? (Day 7)
  8. What is one thing you could see yourself getting involved with to create change in your community? (Day 8)
  9. Where do you think you can start? Who can you contact, talk to, "pick their brain"? (Day 9)


Step 2:  Share and discuss your explanations with small group and large group.

Step 3: What were some commonalities and differences across the answers.

Step 4: What are some actions that you can take (individually/collectively) to address the above?

Step 5: What would you like to know more about? What kinds of information might be helpful to completing Step 4?
